April 7, 2012 - Due to circumstances beyond their control, the OTRA race sceduled for June 30, 2012 in Canada has been canceled. We are working on the possiblity of filling that date with a race at another track. Updates will be posted.
For those of you who were unable to attend the meeting on March 10, 2012, both local tracks are switching to stocking Hoosier tires instead of Goodyears. As a result, our club will be switching to Hoosiers in the same size and type of tire as the Goodyears we've been running. You can still run the Goodyears you already have for 2012, but everyone will need to be switched over by the 2013 season.

The only downside was the first bad storm of the year hit that afternoon and created some terrible road conditions which caused several people to turn back - they were missed at the banquet. Year end awards were handed out as voted on by those in attendance. Click here to see who the recipients were!!

September 24, 2011 @ Stateline Speedway
Jerry Myers had his newly built car out for the first time but typical new car bugs held him back on this night.
Larry Todd continued his torrid qualifying pace this year by once again setting fast time with a 14.932.
Substitute drivers were the key for the trophy dashes with Gil Rapp Sr., subbing for Sieg Fichte in the #17, taking the B dash, and Justin Robideaux, subbing for Steve Mayer in the #78, taking the A dash.
Everyone held their breath when thirteen cars took the green flag for the main event. However, all the drivers maintained their composure, which led to the group staying together and running side by side for a bunch of exciting laps to start the race. There was multiple race leaders with Eldon Wilson taking 1-4, Gil Rapp Sr. 5-7, Mike Robideaux 8-10, and Justin Robideaux 11-14, before Larry Todd methodically worked his way to the front on lap 15. Ken Iverson, who like Todd hails from Moscow Idaho, was close behind him. Unfortunately for Iverson, in his attempt to pass Todd and tie him for most main event wins of the year, he had an unassisted spin in the final race of the year for the second year in a row, which sent him to the back of the field for the restart. Todd held on for his fifth main event win of the year followed by Mike Robideaux in second and Mike's nephew, Shawn Priest, in third. For complete results, click here.
September 2, 2011 @ Spokane Country Super Oval - The Northwest Early Stocks had thirteen cars, including Mike Batman who made the trek from Roseburg Oregon, for our second trip of the year to the 1/2 mile. Shawn Priest started out the night by breaking Larry Todd's string of fast times with a blistering 21.89. Batman, driving a car originally raced on dirt in the 50's then rebuilt by him in the 80's, showed his speed early by qualifying fifth and coming from the back of the B dash to take his first trophy of the night. Gil Rapp Jr. followed with a thrilling A dash win. T.J. Burke walked away from the field to take the B heat. Batman worked his way to the front of the A heat and was leading the field before he had an unassisted spin with half a lap to go, allowing Ken Iverson to slip by for the win. Batman elected to start in the back for the main and methodically worked his way to the front for the win while Ken Iverson and Shawn Priest battled side by side for many laps to take second and third respectively. Also in the main, Duncan Behar continued his campaign for this year's hard luck award, with his third major wreck of the season when he inadvertently drove off the track and caught his right front tire in the dirt bank on the back stretch. Behar's car spun a hard 360 before coming to rest in a cloud of dust. Behar was not hurt, other than his pride, but his car had some serious damage and was hauled to the pits on a roll back wrecker. For complete results click here and don't forget to come to our last race of the year at Stateline Speeday on September 24, 2011.
August 20, 2011 @ Stateline Speedway - Ken Iverson's string of three straight main event wins was broken when he was unable to attend the race due to the start of a late harvest. However, Larry Todd would have been tough to beat with the way he dominated the night. Todd, who suffered a a DNF at the prior race after being involved in a crash, repaired the damage and showed he knew what he was doing by setting fast time. Todd won the A trophy dash from the rear but Terry Armstrong Jr. was able to keep him from sweeping by holding him off in the A heat race. Todd came back in the main event and quickly worked his way to the front then left everyone to take his fourth main event win of the year. Click here for complete results and we'll see you at our next race, Friday night, September 2, 2011 at the Spokane County Super Oval.
August 5, 2011 @ Stateline Speedway - Ken Iverson made it three in a row to sweep our second three race swing of the year but it wasn't easy. Larry Todd was fast qualifier but it was Shawn Priest who got to the front of the trophy dash for the first victory of the night. The heat race saw a lot of close racing as the pack stayed tight throughout. Bill Robideaux took the heat win with Todd charging hard in the outside groove. The main saw more tight racing. Bill Robideaux dropped out early when a bolt broke in the front of his car, sending him off the track and up the bank outside turn three. With eleven laps to go, Mike Robideaux was leading when he and Todd got tangled up, sending the front of Todd's car airborne. Shawn Priest got into the turn four wall trying to avoid the spinning cars in front of him and was unable to continue. The leaders were sent to the back for the re-start. Iverson worked the outside groove masterfully to take the win. The highlight of the night was Duncan Behar made his return to the track after two horrendous crashes earlier in the year. Duncan was all smiles after both he and his car made it through the night with no additional bruises. For complete results, click here and we look forward to seeing you at our next race, Saturday August 20 at Stateline Speedway.
July 30, 2011 @ Ephrata Raceway Park - The Northwest Early Stocks traveled to the 1/4 mile track at Ephrata Washington for their eighth race of the year. They were greeted by excellent weather along with a friendly staff and great fans who hadn't seen us there for an extended period of time. Larry Todd started out the night by showing he's fast everywhere this year, setting fast time once again. After some close racing in the heats and dashes, the cars were lined up on the front stretch for halftime. The fans went out onto the track where they could see the cars up close and meet the drivers along with getting autographs and posters. The main event saw a tight race with two cautions after spins which kept the field tight. Ken Iverson, after struggling with car setup all night, forcing him to change a right front tire before the main, quickly worked his way to the front. Iverson held off a hard charging Gil Rapp Jr., who was right on his bumper most of the time, and Larry Todd who was working the outside groove, for his second main event win in a row. For complete results click here and we'll see you Friday, August 5, 2011 at Stateline for our next race.
July 23, 2011 @ Stateline Speedway - This race marked the start of our second and last, three weekends in a row, racing stint this year. Steve Mayer got his first ever win by starting off the night with a trophy dash victory which wasn't enough for him as he then followed it up with a patient heat race win. Mayer also led the first lap of the main before giving way to a hard charging Clayton Wood, who had started on the outside of the front row and was running his first race of 2011. Wood held the lead before Ken Iverson passed him on the inside of turns three and four on lap eight. Iverson led and was pulling away until a mid race caution for a spinning Mayer bunched the field. Iverson was able to hold on for the remaining laps to take his first main event win of the year. For complete results, click here. Also, more 2011 pics were added, click here. See you in Ephrata next Saturday.
July 9, 2011 @ Stateline Speedway - The club headed to The Little Oval with a Big Attitude, Stateline Speedway, for this race which ended our first of two, three weekends in a row racing stints, scheduled for this year. Larry Todd repaired his car after breaking the rear end the previous weekend and started the night off by once again setting fast time. Bill Robideaux and Billy Husk took the dash wins followed by Todd and T.J. Burke taking the heat wins. The 25 lap main event saw five lead changes. Eldon Wilson, TJ Burke, Bill Robideaux and Shawn Priest took turns leading the first 21 laps but it was Todd who worked his way through the field to lead the final four laps and take his third main event win of the year. For complete results, click here, and we'll see you at our next race, July 23, 2011, at Stateline Speedway.
July 2, 2011 @ Spokane County Raceway Super Oval - A huge crowd greeted the club as we ventured to the banked half mile track at Spokane County Raceway for the first time this year. Four cars from the OTRA club out of Canada, James Campbell, Roger Beck, Kail Beck, and Dean Gill made the long haul to join us for the race making it a total of eighteen cars to start the night. Campbell didn't take long to show us his speed, setting fast time. Campbell continued with strong runs in the dash and heat races before dominating the main event for the win. Dean Gill suffered engine damage early in the race and dropped out. Kail Beck worked his way through the field with a strong top five finish while his father, Roger Beck, ran strong but got a little too close to the edge of the track and suffered a late race spin which sent him to the back. Duncan Behar suffered his second major wreck of the year in the #88 car when his car flipped after he got into the bank outside of turns one and two trying to avoid a spinning car. Behar was okay but his car once again suffered some serious damage. For complete results, click here.
June 25, 2011 @ Stateline Speedway - Another good turnout with thirteen cars. Sieg Fichte started out the night by taking his first ever win in the B Trophy Dash with the #17 car. We lost two cars for the night in the B Heat Race. LoraLee Wilson in the #77 spun coming off turn two at about the halfway point of the heat. Wilson came to a stop sideways on the track and Larry Miller in the #32B braked, but was unable to stop before driving into the side of the #77. Leo Kinkaid (driving the former #48 for the second race since purchasing it from Ralph Bielenberg so he could continue to drive while his other car was being repaired after being severely damaged in a race earlier in the year) did not see the two cars stopped on the track and ran into the back of the #32B. Wilson was able to continue to the main event but Miller and Kincaid's cars were damaged too much to continue - both of them were sore but suffered no injuries. In the main event, Gil Rapp Jr. got out in front at the start of the race and held on for the win after Ken Iverson caught him with two laps to go but was unable to make the pass. For compete results, click here.
June 11, 2011 @ Stateline Speedway - Racers were greeted by perfect weather for our fifth scheduled race of the year. Larry Todd started the night off with a bang by running a 14.887 on his first qualifying lap and setting a new track record on his second lap with a blistering 14.710. Close racing defined the night and the main was no exception with some three wide racing but no crashes and only one yellow caused by a spin. Will Behar led the first five laps until Bill Robideaux took over and led two laps. Ken Iverson caught Robideaux on lap seven then led the next sixteen laps. A patient Gil Rapp Jr. in the #19 car passed Iverson with two laps to go and held on for the win. For complete results, click here.
May 21, 2011 @ Stateline Speedway - Even with a serious threat of rain and thunder showers along with members who have cars that aren't quite ready or who were farming, we still had nine cars turn out for Saturday's race. Larry Todd started out the evening setting fast time with a 14.942 and Gil Rapp Jr. then won a close trophy dash. Several cars had mechanical issues in the heat race but Mike Robideaux in the #52 suffered the worst of it with a badly grenaded engine that let go without warning. Due to the theatening weather, INSSA skipped their heat races and went directly to their main, which worked out good, giving cars time to make repairs in time for our main event. After working their way through traffic, Gil Rapp Jr and Larry Todd had a multiple lap battle with Shawn Priest right behind them. Todd eventually got around Rapp when they went three wide with a lapped car to take his second main event win to start 2011. Click here for complete results!
May 7, 2011 - Due to inclement weather, today's race (Saturday May 7, 2011) has been canceled. The next scheduled race is May 21, 2011 at Stateline Speedway. See you there!!!
April 23, 2011: After the first race was rained out two weeks earlier, beautiful spring weather greated the racers for the second scheduled race of the year. Everyone had endured a long wet winter and twelve cars were ready to get the season started. Unfortunately, a series of crashes marred the nights action. Duncan Behar was involved in one of the crashes and hit hard against the unforgiving concrete retaining wall at Stateline Speedway. Behar spent the night in the hospital and was released the next day, much to the relief of everyone. As far as the racing, Larry Todd avoided the crashes and passed Shawn Priest for the win toward the end of the race. This is the second year in a row Todd has started the year with a main event win! Click here to see the complete results.
April 10, 2011: With cold weather and a forecast for rain, eight cars decided to brave it and made the haul to Stateline Speedway for an attempt at our first race of the year. Unfortunately, it started raining as cars were getting in line for the trophy dashes and the race was cancelled.
February 21, 2011: Our general meeting is scheduled for March 5th, 2011 at the Last Lap in Spokane, 13524 E. Sprague (take the Evergreen exit). The board of directors will meet at 10:30am and the general membership meeting will follow at noon.
